The Guild Hall Is Back Open Under New Charity

Jun, 28 2019

~With a history going back four decades and being host to staging some of the biggest names in music including Morrissey, Led Zeppelin and the late great David Bowie it was clear that when it closed it’s doors earlier this month it would prove to be huge loss for Preston and it’s people.

Thankfully though a charity has stepped in to take over the Guild Hall and Charter Theatre, throwing open the doors with immediate effect. Simply known as ‘The Guild Foundation’, the charity  has previously secured arts and leisure growth in the  city of Preston and now it is about to take on the well known venue.

Previous owner to the Guild Hall Simon Rigby has funded The Guild Foundation in addition to a board of trustees, although is involvement is till significant he will not gain financial profit from any surplus generated.

Mr. Rigby  explains his hopes for the venue going forward :-

“Even though I lost £6,000,000 on the Guild Hall I am determined not to leave Preston without the booming Guild Hall it deserves. I have no interest in operating the Charter Theatre or Great Hall myself but the talented Management that have worked so hard for many years deserve an opportunity to shape the future”.

Organisers behind The Guild Foundation have given the public the assurance that a confident reliable staff will be put in place who appreciate The Preston Guild Hall for it’s reputation and commitment in delivery excellent events and providing the audience with high class refreshments during interval times.

Mr. Simon Rigby concludes with these positive words for those who missed out on performances due to the sudden closure of the venue,

“In due course any Registered Charity, local good cause or Ticket Holders who paid cash for shows that are cancelled should be in for good news once we have completed some legal formalities”.
