~Visit your local pub and they may have a standard jukebox fixed firmly between the bar and the public toilets. Scroll down the artists and your choice of songs and bands could have such variety from rock and pop to perhaps even classical favourites.

It’s true to say that when your attending a local concert a complete mix of music is essential to satisfy the needs of your audience. This coming weekend  St. Catherine’s Hospice ‘Symphony at the Tower’ has organised a gig that appeals to all, young and old.

Scheduled to take place from Friday 1st July to Sunday 3rd July expect pop performances from talent show winner Will Young ( ‘Leave Right Now’ and ‘Joy’) and  a classical concert featuring local choirs.

The big guns though has to go blues giant Joe Bonamassa who is expected to headline the Saturday night. Bonamassa will pay homage to some of the best blues rock guitarists playing the music of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.

Director Peter Taylor is one of the organisers behind the event. Here’s what he had to say in response to Joe headlining the Saturday night,

“Joe Bonamassa for Symphony at the Tower is a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience not to be missed and, coupled with the fact it is in support of St Catherine’s Hospice, this is going to be a very exciting evening.”

The weekend will close on Sunday July 3 with the Symphony Spectacular – a classical Proms-style concert for all the family to enjoy – going back to the roots of the original event featuring a live orchestra, picnics, family fun and fireworks.
