Kate Rusby Coming To Blackburn September 2016

Mar, 31 2016

~We can all profess to liking our favourite football team, to following our number one movie star or to become a devoted fan of a popular band or solo musician. All these things are fine in their  rightful place but consider the latter one and perhaps think of a musician that avoids the pride and nationalistic glory of the other two examples.

Think of a singer who adopts a more quiet, humble nature with a sound that reflects her position in the folk music genre. Are you getting any closer?

I am of course referring to the unique, individual starlet that is :- Kate Rusby. Born and bread in Yorkshire, Kate has carved her singing career out of the pure beauty of the folk accompaniment and the haunting tone of her lyrical distinction.

Backed by a series of accomplished folk musicians :- Damien O’ Kane :- banjo and tenor guitar, Duncan Lyall :- double bass, Nick Cooke :- diatonic accordion and Steve Byrnes :- bouzouki,  she is set to go on tour with them in the autumn 2016.

You can see Kate sparring with the audience and playing tracks from her extensive back catalogue which comprises of over two decades in music as well as her highly acclaimed Ghost album which was released a couple of years ago ( 2014). September 2016 sees her play a string of dates, it will be “A  MAJOR” gig.

Kate is performing at the Blackburn King Georges Hall on Friday 30th September at 7.30pm. Tickets range from £22.50 (advanced) £15 ( Under 16s ) and £15 ( Groups of 10 or more ).  To book tickets for this must see concert contact the booking office at 01254 582 579. A service charge will apply to all bookings made with debit/credit cards.

The King Georges Hall is found at Northgate, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB2, 1AA. If your new to the area look out for the one way system it’s a real nuisance if you get lost and can cause chaos with unfamiliarity.

Kate Rusby is by far one of the folk world’s greats. Her ability to transport the audience into an imaginative and dream like state is quite amazing as is her skills in  moving her public in such an emotional and profound way.

Despite her talent she is also extremely grounded, this is portrayed in her relationship with the audience in between songs as she grapples with her Yorkshire wit and humour and has that rare appeal that everyone can relate to whether young or old, male or female.

Experience the great Kate and be transformed to a transcendental place for a mere couple of hours or so but don’t worry, Kate will have you back down to Earth in a matter of minutes.
