Lytham And St. Annes Health Mela Reflection. Saturday 3rd October 2015

Oct, 5 2015

Following on from it’s successful run at Leyland in September, the Health Mela visited the seaside town of Lytham and St. Annes on Saturday 3rd October 2015. Setting up at the Technology and Performing arts College, it was a real delight and treasure to see it’s return for the third time in this great location.

Chief guest Mr. Adrian Leather, Chief executive of Lancashire Sports spoke freely and engaged with the team at the breakfast meeting before initiating the start of the event. This year’s theme was “ The Role of Sports and Exercises to be better Health and Wellbeing”.  Specific guests were invited to participate in an open forum of comments in response to Mr. Leather’s talk.

Members of the public had the opportunity to take part in a series of health checks. These ranged from blood pressure, BMI, blood sugar and cholesterol testing. The older people sector was also taken into consideration this covered :- falls prevention, mobility, nutrition and pharmacy. Practical demonstrations for all ages helped the public take care and reflect on their own physical health. Additionally there was advice on oral, dental, hearing and eye checks.

It was also a welcome return of the smoothie bike. A fun way to keep fit whilst producing a thirsty reward.  Reiki sessions were also available for those that needed a calm way to unwind.

Exhibitors made the public feel welcome with their organisation and if they had a query they could freely ask without feeling obliged to join. Information was on hand for curious public who wish to learn and know more about their health and wellbeing.

All in all a successful Health Mela, enjoyed and appreciated by those in attendance and for everyone who helped make it so enjoyable. Thank you.
