Bob Geldof And Guests The Charter Theatre Preston September 4th 2015

May, 11 2015

In the late 1970’s a young man named Bob Geldof was lead singer of a band named The Boomtown Rats. They went on to have a series of hits including, ‘Rat Trap’ and ‘Up all night’. As the 1970’s came to a close a new decade began, the 1980’s. This was a period of big hair, the new romantics genre and more importantly an event that would go down in history ‘Live Aid’.

In 1984 having seen the dire living conditions of third world Africans, Geldof put together a group called Band Aid and they topped the charts that Christmas with ‘Do they know it’s Christmas?’ This then spiralled into the mega charity event with all proceeds going abroad. Music acts across the globe got together in aid of this cause.

Since Geldof’s heyday in the Boomtown Rats and his philanthropic ventures he has had a successful solo career and  a rocky marriage to the late Paula Yates of which he had two daughters one of which sadly died last year.

Now in 2015, Bob is back. Back to what he does best, performing his classics. On Friday 4th September at 7pm you could be one of many to see Geldof sing his best songs with a guests included on the bill as well.

He will play at The Charter Theatre at the Preston Guild Hall. Tickets priced £25.00. For bookings dial the box office on 01772 80 44 44. Or dial the Guild Hall for more information on 01772 80 44 40. You can also email them at info@prestonguildhall.co.uk
