The Creative Entrepreneur - Victoria Beckham - September 2026

After she packed up singing feel good songs as a member of quintet super-group The Spice Girls she had a brief solo pop career before a lucrative career as a fashion designer. Victoria Beckham launched her eponymous label in September 2008. Three years later and it had grown into a fixture of New York Fashion Week and a lower- priced Victoria by Victoria Beckham label was introduced.

I could continue for another 2 minutes and 5 seconds about how she became Britain’s top entrepreneur but I’ll let this video do it instead –

She did however reach some business difficulties in 2018 losing a substantial profit. Chairman Ralph Toledano highlighted the reason for the decline –

"The performance was in line with expectations, so we were not surprised. Our goal is to reach profitability as soon as possible”.

Adding -

"Mrs Beckham launched her label in 2008 with a collection of luxury dresses, and now sells fashion and accessories in more than 400 stores around the world." In 2022, Beckham's fashion label was £54 million in debt.

She decided to branch out in September 2019 with her own beauty brand ‘Victoria Beckham Beauty’ in a bid to reclaim some of the loss on her fashion brands. It was a make-up brand and was co-founded with Sarah Creal, showcased exclusively at London Fashion Week.

Compiling her life story into a book is no easy task but on 13th September 2001 she released her first book ‘Learning to Fly’. The title was taken from a line in a song from the musical Fame, which Victoria enjoyed as a child. The autobiography documents her childhood, time during the Spice Girls, her marriage and family life, as well as her career at the time.

Almost a year ago, Netflix released a three part series simply called ‘Victoria Beckham’. It documented her time as a pop star and her determination to succeed as a fashion entrepreneur. It also covered her relationship with football legend David Beckham and the challenges and triumphs that have defined her to the present day.

In 2007, Beckham was the 52nd richest woman in Britain and the 19th richest person in Britain along with her husband David, with an estimated joint wealth of £112 million.

Now almost 20 years later she continues working as a fashion entrepreneur, lives a comfortable life with David and helps to support her children who are now grown up along the way. She has briefly returned to The Spice Girls during the 2012 Olympics but is hesitant to return even for a full reunion, although it would be glorious for the fans she believes she has moved on but has never forgotten her roots and without the pop group it would not have given her the platform she is safely at now.

Beckham was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to the fashion industry. She stated she was "delighted and humbled for the recognition," which her husband also received in 2003. However, as recipients of honours are sworn to secrecy, and Beckham had announced her honour before the 2017 New Year Honours' official publication, she was criticised for the "betrayal of etiquette" by the Conservative MP Peter Bone. In 2026, she was appointed Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture.

These appointments secure her place in modern culture and highlight her consistent attention to detail when it comes to fashion, making her one of the quintessential icons of the 21st century.
