Incurable Disease Sparks Challenge for Partner

Incurable Disease Sparks Challenge for Partner

Nov, 17 2020

As perfectly well adults we could be going about our daily lives working, looking after our family and spending precious moments with our partner. Life may appear to be running smoothly, no rough edges or crushing blows, then suddenly, BOOM!  You’re told some devastating news that shocks you and those you love dearly. In response you could give up but you refuse to  and your closest allies are determined to support you through thick and thin.

In August 2020 Leyland based Kim Eccles was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare tissue disease which is found in only 1 per cent of the adult population.

Kim’s condition is aggressive and once the cancer spreads there will be no medical treatment to keep her alive.

Her natural reaction was to find alternative help which may relive some of the severe symptoms. She discovered that these treatments take place in  America and are not available through the NHS.

Kim’s devoted partner Darren Aldred has set a fantastic challenge to raise essential funds to aide Kim’s diagnosis. He will complete a skydive of 11,000ft. Plans are already underway for Darren to take flight in January 2021 as long as certain restrictions are wavered.

Kim expresses her plea for help and the love of her daughter and partner,

“I just ask that someone out there puts faith in the fact that America could be my life line. There is nothing I want more in the world than to watch my baby girl grow. It means the world and more that Darren is doing a skydive to raise money. I know he’s felt useless throughout my cancer journey and he spends every minute of every day caring for me and our daughter – he’s the most amazing person I’ve ever met”.
