What our members, partners, allied organisations and individuals we work with are saying

My heartiest congratulations to Russell Hogarth, (CCG Chair) and Nigel Farnworth CCG Manager) and the Creative Communities Group members on celebrating their 10th anniversary.   Over the decade, the group has been instrumental in leading and pioneering community cohesion and community engagement across the City of Preston. The work has had a positive impact on promoting better community relations and health and well-being.   I feel very proud and privileged to be a member of the Creative Communities Group and look forward to being more involved in helping to build on the good work that has already been done over the past 10 years. Best wishes for the future!

Russell and the Creative Communities Group members help to give a voice to people who don’t often have a voice. The CCG tell community stories and shares their experiences.   Creative Communities Group members support the often harder to reach in our society, giving them hope and inclusion. They have helped to organise and support many major community events, at the university, throughout Lancashire and beyond.   In 2015 the Creative Communities Group members, supported by university staff, students and community members, published via MacMillan Palgrave, the book titled, ‘Creative Education Teaching and Learning.’   This publication is often quoted as a pathway to inclusion and accessible education. I would like to congratulate Russell and the Creative Communities Group members

The Creative Communities Group [CCG] a decade of action, engagement, and achievements. It’s been an immense pleasure being part of the CCG journey for the past 10 years. I believe the organisation is an asset to UCLan and by bring Honorary Fellows together gives us a platform to share our views, ideas and engage with collective action to better advance the CCG and UCLan image both locally and globally. The CCG partnership working is well recognised and apricated by many VCFS organisations and it’s a catalyst for giving students at UCLan an opportunity for real life community experiences whist studying. Preston City Mela has benefited directly from the CCG technical and social media support over the years, and we wish this to continue.

Creativity is not only for the benefit of the creator, but for all of society. There needs to be more exploration of distant or unlikely possibilities, more crafting of unusual solutions, more suggestions that go beyond the known. Most creative ideas will fail; but the ones that succeed will more than repay the failures. And creative ideas start with creative teaching - the student will learn not only the facts, but a way of thinking. Congratulations on the CCG 10th anniversary

Congratulations to the Creative Communities Group team, led by Russell Hogarth on their 10 th anniversary celebration. I remember my engagement with the CCG whilst working at Lancashire County development Ltd as a Business Development officer.   Social Inclusion is a subject dear to my heart. I was engaged in supporting groups who were setting up social enterprises and the CCG at that time fitted that structure. I had the pleasure of working at first hand with the CCG student members and their engagement with community groups.   I was delighted to welcome students from the Creative Communities Group to the Gujarat Hindu Society to explain how as a charity we engaged with different partners to improve our links with mainstream organisations. The University of Central Lancashire also happen to be one of our partners in community development.  &

It has been a pleasure and privilege to have been part of CCGUK under the Chair of Russell Hogarth. Virtual interactions and engagements via the group are incredible. I personally have benefitted and been motivated. The group support to my place of work – Preston & Western Lancashire Racial Equality and Diversity Council - in its general promotional work and annual celebration of the Preston STAR Event (Standing Together Against Racism) has benefitted local schools and communities. It has brought closer minds of varied expertise and experiences together.   Thanks to UCLan for their continuous support. Best wishes for future.

Positive change hinges on fresh thinking that springs from creativity.  Being part of a creative community is a space where those with an enthusiasm to collaborate can come together and conceptualize a different tomorrow on issues that matter to them. Its value lies in bringing together a range of different knowledge, skills and experiences. Russell has been the initiator at the heart of this community that now moves forward into its second decade.
