Spotlight On CCG Members :- October :- Brian Rollo

Oct, 2 2019

~~When someone has a noteworthy reputation in the community it’s their duty to fulfil that role with dignity and professionalism. This month’s ‘Spotlight on CCG  Members’ has applied the opening sentence to his work and many other projects he has been involved in. Let’s learn more about Brian Rollo.

Brian’s engineering background goes back some four decades. He started out investing some considerable time in aerodynamic research. It was here where he worked on the Anglo-French Jaguar, The British/German/Italian/Spanish Tornado and Typhoon, and the US F-35B.

In recent years he moved towards political leanings and was elected Preston City Councillor in 2002. The following is a summary of the roles he took from 2007 -2018:-

• Member of the development control committee, opposition lead on planning from 2007
• Chair of the committee from 2011 until May 2017
• Stood down to become Mayor of Preston until May 2018

The other work Brian is actively involved in the community includes being on the board of Gateway Housing Association for the maximum length of time. He also balances his time as governor of Ashton Community Science College and chair of governors at Moor Nook Infant School. The portion of time he has left finds him on the board of Farrington CIC and a member of Preston’s Select Vestry.

It appears that this is a responsible man who clearly wants to make a difference both in the community and in local schools and colleges. With his recent appointment as Executive Member for the Environment, this is sheer proof that there are many pressing issues Brian wants to resolve not just in his lifetime but for the next generation to come.

Brian, we’re delighted to have you as a member of the CCG. We can learn so much from you, welcome.
