National Poetry Day -UCLAN - 7pm -10pm - 3/10/19

Oct, 1 2019

~All of us have the ability to write. At an early age children are introduced to the alphabet and as they grow older they ask mum and dad ‘what does that word mean?’

By the time a child reaches adolescence it has gained a basic comprehensive understanding of the English language. The result of this is demonstrated in the teenager’s skill in writing poetry.

This Thursday 3rd October is National Poetry Day 2019. Schools, colleges and universities up and down the country are getting involved and encouraging more people to write.

UCLAN is getting in on the act by hosting an ‘Open Mic Event’ at the Café and Exhibition Space in Livesey House, Preston Campus. All Prestonians with a passion for poetry are welcome! This year, the theme is ‘Truth’.

Interested ones should arrive at 7pm for registration and refreshments. The poetic licence will initiate 7.30pm -9.30pm.  There will also be a short intermission.

Please note :- this event is suitable for adults aged 16+ and no booking is required.

Whether you are an experienced word-crafter, or a beginner in the art, you are most welcome to join in:-
