~In 1947, eight theatre companies turned up to an event which was designed to appeal to those in the field of arts.
Now over 70 years later it has become somewhat of a summer institution for the culturally inclined amongst us. Yes, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival has been drawing in crowds fascinated by street art, comedians, musicians and much, much more for the past 7 decades.
But what if our circumstances mean we are unable to attend the well-known festival. If you’re from the Lancashire district you’ll be familiar with it’s spin-off alternative.
Lancashire Fringe Festival takes over venues across Preston city centre. Promoter Garry Cook helped to establish the Preston based version, he speaks candidly about the organisation behind the 2019 Fringe and the prospect of future Fringe’s following the positive response from this one,
“There are some absolutely stunning shows in the festival. It has taken a lot of work to get some of them here but I’m delighted with the line up, and hope the people if Preston and Lancashire will come and help make this festival a huge success so that we can carry on doing it for years to come.
The Fringe operates on a ‘pay what you decide’ model, with no set ticket price for any of the shows.

Garry has these persuasive words to draw you in to the Lancashire Fringe 2019:-
“I want to encourage people who do not usually see this kind of performance to come to one or two shows and experience something remarkable. All these shows have been chosen not just because of their subject matter but because they deliver a message in a hugely engaging, entertaining and exciting way.
And finally,
“If you turn up, you will experience something that will stay with you for the rest of your life.”
