Post Punk Tribute Acts - The Continental - 8pm- 20/4/19

~Joy Division were a popular post punk  band of the late 1970’s and early 80’s. The sound was unique and their image captivating. This was due, in part to front man Ian Curtis who had an enigmatic stage presence and made the band such a pivotal movement in the post punk genre.

Their longevity in the charts however was cut short. This was in response to the ultimately suicide of Curtis. The remaining members went to form New Order and achieved critical and commercial success but Joy Division will always be close to their hearts.

Over the years they’re had a number of tribute acts attempting to  mirror the original group. “Transmission” though, have hit the nail on the head.

Named after the bands classic hit, they are simply known as the UK’s number one Joy Division tribute act.

Another popular post punk/ industrial rock band is Killing Joke. Well known across the live circuit for creating quite a storm on stage, the Killing Joke’s performances were once described as “the sound of the earth vomiting.”

Tribute act ‘Pssyche’ are set to ignite Killing Joke’s classic hits from a 40 year back catalogue of tracks. Their repertoire will include songs such as 'Requiem & War dance’ ,'Love Like Blood' & 'Eighties'.

The two acts will go head to head in an exciting attempt to recreate the legendary 1980 joint Joy Division / Killing Joke tour!

Transmission and Pssyche will be performing at The Continental on Saturday 20th April 2019. Doors are at 8pm.
