~For all the North West’s established artists who may have climbed the artistic ladder via the education system there are, however those of us hidden amongst the veneer of schooling who are artists in their own right and thanks to an annual event they are being presented and shown to a local and engaging audience.
The Harris Open is a celebration of the arts in the city in which dozens of artists have their work displays – the only condition being you must live or study within a five-mile radius of the Harris to be able to take part. Sadly the deadline date has passed (Saturday 1st December).
The interested public though can experience a premier of the work exhibited this Friday ( 7th December ) from 5.30pm at The Harris Museum and Art Gallery. The exhibition will then open formally the following day, Saturday 8th December 2018.
It’s an opportunity to view either your friend, relative or loved ones work in an exhibition which seeks to celebrate all areas of the artistic field, including photography.
Cabinet member for culture and leisure councillor Peter Kelly said these short but succinct words of elation,
“The Harris Open is always one of our most popular exhibitions and its a great way to feel connected with like-minded people.”
The exhibition will run until Sunday 20 January 2019.
