Lubaina Himid Exhibition Re-Opening At Harris

Lubaina Himid Exhibition Re-Opening At Harris

Apr, 20 2018

~Setbacks do occur in life. If you have been well most of your life you may at some point  receive a diagnosis that could set you back weeks, months even years.

In the art world exhibitions sometimes have to be put on hold perhaps due to lack of space or some other more complex reason. This would be a potential setback for the artist in question as their exhibition will only be on for a certain time and may interfere with more accessible art galleries that could utilize their work.

This has been true of a recent exhibition of local artist and teacher  Lubaina Himid. Her Hard Times work was  closed off to visitors to the Harris Museum and Art Gallery after a leak was discovered coming from the grade-I listed building’s roof.

From March to mid April maintenance work had to be carried out. It was only last Friday ( April 13th ) that Harris staff gave the go ahead to re-open the exhibition.

Visitors to The Harris can expect to see Lubaina’s latest work from 2012 Moments that Matter. Hard Times however is due to run until 3rd June 2018, admission is free and all are welcome.
