Conga Roots Saturdays - UCLAN - 10am-1pm- 9/12/17

Dec, 5 2017

~When you consider the work of musician Paul Simon and trace his back catalogue to the days when he released the 1986 classic album ‘Graceland’ you cannot help but be awe-inspired by the eclectic use of varied instruments and the  talented musicians that made the album so unique.

Today artists such as Paolo Nutini use brass and drum to create their original sound. Now in 2017 as part of a Saturday morning workshop you too can be part of a group which creates sounds and  beats which mimic the classic conga drumming experience.

This Saturday 9th December from 10am -1pm is a Conga Roots Workshop. It will take place at Room 226 of UCLAN’S Media Factory in Preston.

You’ll have the chance to learn and explore various techniques and rhythm patterns inspired by Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music.

You can be an absolute beginner or a quiet pro, all abilities welcome. The event is open to UCLAN staff, students and members of the public. It is part of UCLAN’S Something for Everyone Project. For more information please contact Jon Aveyard on :- 01772 894798
