~It may be the start of the new academic year for schools, colleges and universities across the country but there is also a large  percentage of people who have graduated from the above three recently or over a number  of years. With that being the case those individuals who are  creatively inclined would greatly benefit from a day of learning and exploring their potential as they go forward perhaps as artists, freelancers or other creative business practitioners.

On Wednesday 11th October between 10am - 1pm is an event simply entitled ‘ Fire Up - Designing Your Creative Business’. It is a workshop which seeks to concentrate on developing a business strategy to make the most of your creativity in relation to competitors and markets in a way that is consistent with your overall aims and values.

It will be held at The Loft, Burnley Mechanics, Manchester Road, Burnley. CPD sessions will be designed and delivered by David Parrish, a specialist business adviser and trainer for creative, digital and cultural enterprises.

Five key elements will discussed in great depth including :-

Defined business success in their own terms in relation to creativity, lifestyle, profit and values.

Used techniques to understand their own competitive advantage in relation to other creative businesses.

Examined external forces in a systematic way to identify potential opportunities for their enterprise.

Developed a unique business formula that brings together specific aspects of their creative potential with suitable customers.

Devised action plans to achieve their business objectives.

In the afternoon there will be a chance to learn about Creative Business Marketing, this is a three hour session from 2-5pm. This workshop will include learning the main concepts used in strategic marketing and operational marketing and examining and evaluating different promotional and advertising techniques appropriate to their business.

Attendance to both workshops is free but you must pre-register via event brite.com. Places are limited so only register if you can definitely make it. Refreshments are provided, however lunch is not. You may wish to try the Simply Classic Burnley Mechanics Bistro, open between 11am – 3pm.
