~If you’re a newly qualified Mental Health Professional, Social Worker, Social Care Staff or Health colleague you’ll be interested in an event to sharpen your skills and make you aware of specific situations that may occur in the workplace.

The Mental Capacity Act (2005) A Refresher CPD Workshop is scheduled to take place next Thursday, September 28th from 9.30am - 4.30pm. It will be held at UCLAN’S teaching and training base, The Westleigh Conference Centre on Lea Road, Preston.

The programme will be designed for academics and those already in a caring role. It will be facilitated by UCLAN Senior Lecturer Matt Graham. Matt has gained substantial experience within the field of mental health as both a lecturer and publisher on the subjects of risk, safeguarding, mental capacity and legislation.

The day will be explored in a number of ways, including  :-

 Revisiting  the Mental Capacity Act and its application in practice,  to  consider case law regarding the interface between best interests and wellbeing  and reflecting upon the tensions associated with balancing safeguarding and the application of the MCA in relation to people's emotional wellbeing.

The cost of attendance to this event is £100 per delegate. Advance booking is essential. Please note :- This session does not include an assessment. On completion, participants will be provided with a certificate of attendance which will include the CPD hours achieved.
