~London based musician Rick Wakeman is probably best known as keyboardist for prog rock act Yes from 1971 to the present day.  He has also carved out a successful career as a songwriter, television and radio presenter, and author. But you may not know that Rick is an accomplished piano player  and has recently released his first solo piano album entitled ‘Piano Portraits’.

This 2017 record is a unique interpretation of some of music’s most iconic and established songs. Tracks such as  David Bowie’s ‘Life on Mars’, Cat Stevens track ‘Morning has Broken’ and some of The Beatles best known hits such as ‘Help’ and ‘Eleanor Rigby’.

On Thursday 2nd November 2017 Rick will be bringing his album to an appreciative audience at The Blackburn King Georges Hall. Doors open from 7pm and tickets are priced from £27.50 (advanced) to £30.00 ( on the door). In addition to the album tracks, Rick will also be throwing in some classical pieces in to the mix too. The show will include at least eight of the pieces on the album, plus other musical surprises, and all will be interspersed with hilarious anecdotes from this well-known and accomplished raconteur.
