Spotlight On CCG Members :- Mr. Lewis Smith Connell

Jul, 4 2017

~It’s a rare occurrence these days that a person going into academic studies has an end goal or has a definite decision about a chosen profession in their field of expertise. This month’s ‘Spotlight on CCG Members’ however did just that.  Lancashire based Mr. Lewis Smith Connell is the focus as a recent addition to the CCG member’s page.

At the start of Lewis’s time at University he knew immediately a career in mental healthcare was the right path for him. He wanted to make a difference and gain considerable experience which would then give him the confidence to go forward in his occupation.

By 2008 he joined the Lancashire Care NHS Trust and Lewis worked on a number of wards covering different acuity and diverse conditions.

In the nine years since his first foray into the world of care he has grown and progressed as a person. Now in 2017 he is a Community Development Worker. This role sees him work with communities from an asset based approach to create cohesive and supportive neighbourhoods which promote wellbeing both mental and physical.

No doubt co-workers have remarked on his devotion and relentless energy which has seen him build relationships with key individuals and organisations in order to deliver on key aims in innovative cross disciplinary ways.

But Lewis admits that he is a work in progress as he seeks to continually develop both professionally and personally to evolve his practice, understanding and skills.

In conclusion he gives this life affirming statement about the work he does and the positive impact it has on others,

“I am passionate about the field of wellbeing, which I believe is of vital significance for this generation and those to come”.

We warmly welcome Mr. Lewis Smith Connell to the CCG.
