Spotlight On CCG Members :- Miss Juliette Burton

Jan, 10 2017

~~A multi – award winning lady has successfully capitalised on her personal mental health problems by establishing herself in the arts as a comedian, actress, writer, performer, presenter and ex-BBC broadcast journalist.  This weeks ‘Spotlight on CCG Members’ is no stranger to the creative field neither is she afraid to speak candidly about her mental health difficulties. She is  Greater London’s Miss Juliette Burton.

Juliette began her interest into writing by studying journalism which developed into acting and comedy script format. She has worked both at IPC Media, the BBC, Archant Media and Telegraph Media.

She has however experienced severe bouts of mental health problems. These range from OCD to anorexia. It was at just 17 where she underwent treatment at a  local mental health hospital and was diagnosed for a series of conditions.

After sometime had passed she was able to return to her  first love, performing arts. Her debut solo show ‘When I Grow Up’ was showcased at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 and got a fantastic write up. From there she used her personal health struggles with ‘Look at Me’ in 2015 and recently ‘Decision Time’ was performed at last year’s Fringe (2016) much to the delight of audiences in the Edinburgh locality.

Juliette has gone on to work with TV & radio production companies on projects, some of which are currently in development.

She is available and interested to speak at events as she'll add intelligence as well as humour to your occasion - contact the CCG for more information.

Miss Burton continues to have therapy and regularly writes blogs for  ‘Time to change’ and ‘Mindfull’.  She is also a positive advocate for charities, ‘Mind’, eating disorder ‘B-eat’,  ‘Changing Faces’ and for   body dysmorphic disorder charity ‘B.O.D.Y.’

Juliette is an informed speaker and able to talk confidently on the subject of mental health, using her experiences and strength to offer hope.

The CCG is delighted she is an official member.
