~In the last fifty years there have been some monumental albums released. In the  60’s we had The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper. The 1970s gave us David Bowie’s Spiders From Mars. Thirty years ago Paul Simon’s Graceland was an instant classic. The 1990’s gave us the Brit Award winning Everything Must Go from The Manic Street Preachers. Coldplay’s 2002 A Rush of Blood to the Head was a second album thrill. Finally in recent years the Grammy Award winning 21 helped catapult Adele to the mainstream in early 2011.

One album though that became the seventh studio album for this folk rock dreamy poetic musician is still regarded as a highly influential and important album fifty years after it’s release.

Released on May 16th 1966 on Columbia Records Bob Dylan’s masterpiece ‘Blonde on Blonde’ was an immediate hit from fans and music lovers all around the world.  It featured the songs “ Rainy Day Women #12 and 35’ ,  ‘ I Want You’ and ‘Just like a Woman’.

In association with Rock Artist Management ‘The Dylan Project’ have been performing the iconic singers’ all time greats for the past twenty years. Fronted by Steve Gibbons and Fairport Conventions Dave Pegg( bass), Gerry Conway (drums ), Phil Bond ( keyboards) and PJ  Wright (pedal steel and guitars) these guys really know how to do justice to one of music’s most celebrated and gifted artists.

In Dylan’s heyday he stunned audiences when he came out with an electric guitar despite this he was a lover of the crowd and he was motivated to keep on performing as this quote reveals,

“ A lot of people can’t stand touring but to me it’s like breathing. I do it because I’m driven by it”.

‘Blonde on Blonde’ peaked at number nine on the Billboard 200 in the US, where it eventually was certified double platinum, and it reached number three in the UK.
