~Since the early part of the 21st Century the annual Preston Health Mela’s have done a marvellous job in providing the very best in health and well-being for the benefit of the Prestonion people.


Now in 2016 comes a spin-off event which has the similar themes as the aforementioned one exploring such concepts as South Asian Arts, Culture, Music, Dance, Crafts and Food.


In association with Preston City Council and Community Gateway comes a new,  stylish event happening on the Flag Market on Saturday 9th July 2016.
‘Preston’s Mini Mela’ will set up residence for the afternoon between the hours of 12noon till 4pm.


Mr. Ishmer Tailor MBE will commence the event then a variety of dance acts will take to the floor till 12.50pm. Following that a period of music commences including violinists, dhol and south Asians drummers.


By 3.10 till 3.45pm some thrilling dance performances will be delivered courtesy of Abhinanadana MK Dance academy, Transitional Indian Folk Dance, Bollywood Dance Medley and  a Flash Dance Workshop.


Simultaneously  arts and crafts workshops will be held throughout the afternoon.  This includes henna artists, kite making workshop, nail workshop, face painting and Arabic art and design. In addition there will be a chance to have a go on the climbing wall and the smoothie bike, ( a bike that provides smoothies the faster you ride it ). Please note:- all these workshops and taster sessions are free and can be enjoyed by all.


 As well music and dance performances, you may also want to enquire about some of the sponsors that are here for the day. These cover Preston Community Gateway Association Stall, What Women Want Stand ( in line with Preston City Council ) and Disability Equality North West.

For those with young children you may be interested to know there will be a bouncy castle on site and cup cakes by Sophia. Please note there is a charge for usage of the bouncy castle and the cup cakes, the rest of the programme is for your delectation and recreational purposes.
