Deerhart Exhibtion Hopes For Successat Literature And Arts Awards May 27th 2016

~Awards for the main players in the world support film, music and art. Nominations of such have seen actors, musicians and artists finding a platform to build on after a potential win, the accolade and the press attention that goes with it.

How about a more humane award category. One that triumphs our countryside, our eco-system and the consequences of human actions upon the earth. Additionally this category celebration would collide with art and literature using nature as it’s thematic inspiration.

Thankfully, there is such a category.  Scheduled to take place on Friday 27th May the Saboteur Indie literature awards has a best wildcard category and the Deerhart exhibition created by Yvonne Reddick who works at the University of Central Lancashire, and multimedia artist Diana Zwibach are hoping to win the coveted prize.

Yvonne expresses what Deerhart represents and what it means personally for her to be nominated,

“Deerhart celebrates our relationship with nature, but it also recognises that the changes that human beings have made to our environment are irreversible. It’s a real privilege to be recognised for creating art and literature that tackles these issues.”

Collaboratively they have exhibited their work at the PR1 Gallery in Preston City Centre. Other nominations in the wildcard category include:- COP21 performance by Sophia Walker, Alchemy by Abi Palmer, Marcas Mac by Tuairneir and Seymour Poets at BlueSCI.

You can vote for your favourite by logging onto the Saboteur awards website and simply go to category 12. Voting closes on Tuesday 24th May.

Other categories include :- best poetry pamphlet, best reviewer, best magazine, best spoken word performer, best regular spoken word night, best short story collection, best novella, most innovative publisher, best anthology, best collaborative work and  best spoken word show.

Yvonne however is particularly excited about the wildcard nomination and has high hopes for Friday 27th May as she concludes with these  brief but succinct words of joy,

“This is great news for culture in Preston and the North West. We’re thrilled to be shortlisted.”
