Derelict Springs This April Performance Art In Preston

Derelict Springs This April Performance Art In Preston

Mar, 29 2016

~April. A time where flowers bloom. A time to drink wine in the back garden. A time to take in the cultural trend of a thriving city.

The month of April sees the latter point being fulfilled. Pop up performances by artists will be the dominant feature that Prestonians will be talking about long after the month is concluded.

‘Derelict Springs’ will combine a mix of theatre, music and poetry performed by established performing artists in popular venues throughout the city centre.

Described as a ‘short, ambitious programme of immersive and participatory performance in Preston’ it sees shows in Bruccianis cafe, the Harris Museum and other venues in the city centre.

Here is some inside information on the event happening soon from Josh Coates one of the forerunners behind this original event,

“Derelict Springs is an exciting programme of international work that’s coming to unusual and unique locations around Preston between 7-16th April. It’s a chance for people from Preston to experience something a little different in locations that you would least expect”.

Amongst the performances scheduled you can enjoy the ‘Pop -Up Love Party’ a show where a michelin star chef will be preparing a meal for audiences at Brucciani’s Café. You can also experience the award winning Verity Standen’s ‘Hug at the Harris Museum’ a free choral delight.

Funded by the Arts Council and UCLan the series begins with Verity Standen’s HUG at the Harris on Friday 8 April and Saturday 9 April.
Join Me by The Larks runs at various times in the city centre from Monday 11 April to Saturday 16 April.  On the Flag Market there is Glen Neath and David Rosenberg’s performance of Seance from the same dates, which is £3 to take part in.

A Pop Up Love Party hosted by Zuppa Theatre is in Bruccianis on Friday 15 April and Saturday 16 April from 7.30pm both nights, and includes seven snacks by Michelin-star chef Daniel Burns for £20 pr head.
