Mar, 3 2016

~Imagine an event that showcased emerging talent from the region alongside more established and world class brands from the UK. Fortunately thanks to Creative Lancashire that vision is far from a dream.

Best Of Britannia ( or BOB ) has been achieving the above with finesse and style. Over the past twelve months it  has helped to promote the best of British design and manufacturing. BOB North is the Lancashire version of the  national event.

As well as seeing the crème de la crème from creative industries, this year there will also be a chance to experience some specialised talks, exhibits and events alongside the BOB programme starting with a special launch event at the Harris museum.

Scheduled to run from Friday 11th March - Sunday 13th March with a 10am start and an 8pm finish. On Sunday evening the exhibition closes earlier at teatime, 6pm. It will take place at both the Harris and  the historic post office building.

Here are some of the highlights delivered throughout the exhibition, :-

Scheduled to take place on Thursday 10th March from 6-8pm,
The Harris Museum and Art Gallery brings you, ‘Conversations in Creativity :- Bowie :- The Very Best of Britannia’.

Hosted by Dave Haslam and introduced by Wayne Hemmingway. A panel of cultural commentators, creatives and designers discuss in length, the creative term, creativity around the world and the legacy of Bowie and how his loss could  greatly enhance  the arts.

On Friday 11th March between 4-5pm The BOB Social Club at the Historic Post Office Building invites you to explore, :- ‘Conversations in Creativity :- BOB North Debate - Collaboration’.

In association with Made In Britain this debate will examine the benefits and perils of collaborating  with other British or overseas designers, manufacturers and institutions.

The panel consists of leading businesses, academics and designers from Charles Hadcock ( Artist ) - Beverly Lamey ( University of Central Lancashire )

On Friday 11th March, between 6-8pm, The BOB Social Club provides an opportunity to social network, exchange phone numbers, emails and get yourself heard by a wide variety of people in the arts and in business.

POWWOW ( in association with Linn Lounge) is a creative social networking event with a VIP reception included. Complimentary drinks and food included.

Interact and widen your social sphere to help you or your work colleagues. If you have any business proposal you wish to get off the ground then this is the ideal chance to ‘connect’ with those in the know and help your dream become a reality.

Additionally, as the backdrop to the social networking, courtesy of Linn Lounge the classic hits of the late David Bowie will be played on a top range Linn music system in Studio Master.

So if your lacking a little confidence, get a Bowie beat in your mind and it should let the conversation flow freely. Bowie had wit and humour so add that to your talking technique and you’re going places!J

Delegates are also invited to visit the BOB North exhibition - open until 8pm.

So put next weekend ( Thurs 10th -13th March 2016) in your creative calendar and be enthralled by the arts and business led  groups in and around the Lancashire area.
