Kendal Calling Summer 2016

Kendal Calling Summer 2016

Feb, 9 2016

~One band has enjoyed a forty year career in the spotlight whilst another enduring artist has experienced a twenty year buzz in the limelight. Madness and Noel Gallagher have both been subjects for top ten hits and successful albums  in the 1990’s and the 21st century.

On tour too they have woken a sleepy town and now a bright eyed  music gig is returning this summer making Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and the ska funk of Madness topping the bill.

Kendal Calling is echoing throughout the parks and woodland territory of the Lake District from July 28th -31st 2016 marking it’s 11th birthday to the countryside region.

Founder of the event Ben Robinson speaks fondly of the attraction of seeing Oasis perform some of their biggest hits and how Noel has adapted his set-list to include new songs from his solo career to a packed audience,

““My first gig in a field was Loch Lomond watching Oasis twenty years ago. That moment defined my youth and calling in the years to follow. Noel’s song writing has sound tracked the lives of millions over the last two decades; it’s with great pride that we’re able to bring those anthems and his new hits to the fields of Kendal Calling.”

Also scheduled to perform will be dance act Rudimental, hip hop group The Sugarhill Gang, garage act Craig David, Toddla T, Everything Everything, rock outfit The Darkness, We are Scientists, punk rock group The Hives and indie band The Charlatans.

Lead singer of The Charlatans and founder of the festival’s Tim Peaks diner, said it would be an “extra special” four days,

“As ever, I’m really looking forward to Kendal Calling. The sixth year in a row for me, the second time The Charlatans will have headlined and this year is the fifth year for Tim Peaks. It’s going to be an extra special four days. See you there!”

To avoid disappointment please book early. Last year tickets priced at £135 were sold out 19 weeks in advance! If you want to be amongst the crowd chanting ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ or enjoy the eccentric fun of Madness singing ‘Our House’ or prefer the baggy indie vibe of The Charlatans rocking out to 90’s favourite ‘One to Another’ then get yourself down to Kendal Calling. It’s going to be another weekend to remember!
