Christmas Single In Aid Of Lancashire's Flood Victims

Dec, 24 2015

~Tomorrow sees a number of things occurring. Children waking up at 6am opening presents, mum and dad frantically preparing the Christmas dinner and the announcement of the coveted prize for Christmas number one.

Granted,  over the years there’s been a few turkeys ( Mr. Blobby and There’s  No-one quite like Grandma ) classics in the form of Slade and Wizzard. Yet more heartwarming are the ones released in aid of charities. The X Factor have accomplished this  over the ten years or so it’s been televised and in 2012 a cover of The Hollies classic ‘ He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother’ was released in aid of the Hillsborough disaster that took the lives of so many football fans back in April 1989.

Now in 2015 a new Christmas song has been recorded by musicians, schoolchildren, footballers and Morecombe FC’s Christie the Cat in Lancaster in the wake of the recent flood and it’s effect on the neighbouring towns and people of Lancashire and Cumbria.

Simply called ‘ It won’t be long ‘till Christmas’ this moving ballad was recorded at The Grand in Lancaster on Wednesday December 16th and it’s set to secure a place in the charts tomorrow.

Musicians James Morrison, Jamie Walker and Luke Paget have helped collaborate the track upon seeing the devastating consequences of those either stranded or without homes during the build up to Christmas.

James, vocalist and guitarist of Morecombe based Idol Minds had the following to say regarding the positive message the song delivers,

“We’re hoping that as many local businesses and community members as possible will get behind the project and hopefully we can make it a huge success and raise a large amount of money for the flood appeals.”

Morecombe football players from the district gave their support as did musicians Molly Warburton, Amy-Jo Clough, Evie Plumb and Nick Latham. Additionally pupils from both Skerton St Lukes and Moorside Primary School raised the roof on the night. Help also came from Beaumont College with  ‘Sign out Loud’ which  assisted sign language to the song too.

You can help lend your support by downloading the song on iTunes and Bandcamp at a mere 99p. With enough publicity surrounding it, organisers behind the event Help the North are hoping the strong message will make it go viral.

Experience the behind the scenes footage  and the build up to the song being produced by viewing it on You Tube. The video was made courtesy of Lucie Carrington.

‘It won’t be long ‘Till Christmas was released last Friday ( December 18th 2015). All proceeds will go to The Community Foundation for Lancashire Flood Appeal and Cumbria Flood Appeal.

Make sure your money is well spent this Christmas and think of the flood victims that may not be as fortunate as you. They may no longer have a place to call home or a place to invite friends and family over the festive period. Please, do your bit to help those in need of care and assurance.
