When established film critics such has Mark Kermode are calling a documentary film 'heartfelt and stirring', you know your onto a winner.
'Still the Enemy Within' captures a pivotal time in mining history. It chronicles the years from 1984 - 1985 and focuses primarily on the British miners' strike. Featuring never before seens interviews and authentic footage from the time itself as well as the miners themselves speaking amicably about that particular period in their lives.
It's a moving account and with a soulful soundtrack it will no doubt leave you with tears and appreciation for what the miners endured. It pulls no punches too. Assuring us that no experts and politicians were involved in it.
'Still the Enemy within' also includes input from Mike Jackson the founder of Lesbian and Gays support the miners. The concept behind the recent blockbuster hit 'Pride'.
This is a notable and noteworthy film to see and the good news is the CCG is showing it at UCLAN this Tuesday March 3rd at the Foster building lecture theatre four. Doors open at 6.30pm with the film being shown at 7pm. Please note:- there will be no charge for admission and parking is free on the Foster car park.
Thirty years since the difficulty and aftermath of the British Miners Strike you could be one of many to see the real truth behind it. The film will be introduced by an ex miner who will also be at hand for the question and answer session afterwards. Guests on the evening also include trade union representatives and members of Preston Council.
