Buildings of Distinction - The Lowther Pavilion Theatre

Oct, 14 2024

The history of the arts in Lytham steeps back to the previous century when The Lowther Pavilion theatre was constructed. Please watch this short film that explains it’s past and campaign efforts from 2008. Do not feel obliged to donate this no longer applies –

Thankfully, The Friends of Lowther Pavilion spearheaded the first fundraising efforts for the theatre and gardens and their campaign came at the right time as the Charitable trust was expanded to look to the future of the facility as a whole.

By 2012, the Lowther Gardens (Lytham) Trust was expanded to manage the day to day running of the pavilion.

Over the next 9 years the building has been utilised so much more, with the theatre introducing major acts to the people of Lytham as well as remaining at the heart of local user group dramatic presentations. The pavilion also acts as a crucial community resource, providing a space in which to hold events and activities for all members of the local community.

In 2021, The Pavilion turned 100. To mark this centenary period, The Lowther Charitable Trust envisaged a new outlook for the future of the venue. A complete revitalisation of the pavilion is essential in order to keep it up to date with its ageing facilities.

People want it to be around for another 100 years and this can only be possible if the theatre undergoes considerable makeover challenges for it to continue to go from strength to strength making it a sustainable part of the local community and theatre scene for the foreseeable future.
