Carmen Production looking for Operatic Singers....

Dec, 24 2021

Do you ever feel like you missed your calling in life? Perhaps you got caught up working full time and raising children that you forgot about your hidden talents you kept secret from your family all this time….

Fear not, now is your chance. Preston Opera are inviting local singers to rehearse for a 2022 performance of the theatrical production Carmen. It will take place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th June next year at Fulwood Academy backed up by a full orchestra.

Organisers are especially keen to speak to residents with experience singing in choirs or other groups who would like to feel the electrical buzz of being part of the cast of Carmen.

Support will provided for those who do not have previous singing experience too and there is also an opportunity for those that prefer to work behind the scenes on the set construction or costumes.

Preston Opera was instigated by local musician Frank Salter who gathered a small group of singers with a mutual interest in performing opera in 1965. Until then, operas in Preston was restricted to visiting tour groups. Early productions were staged in the Preston Playhouse, and in 1976 Preston Opera moved to the Charter Theatre, where it has performed annually ever since.

Rehearsals will start at 7.30pm on Thursday 13th January 2022 and all are more than welcome to participate.

Interested ones should makes their way to Carey Church, Pole Street, Preston, PR1, 1DX.
