Lancashire Encounter Finale a fitting tribute

Lancashire Encounter Finale a fitting tribute

Oct, 3 2021

In the North West of England we like to do things in style. That being the case then the grand finale of the Lancashire Encounter Festival went out with a bang!( literally)

On Saturday 2nd October the Mayor of Preston delivered a speech in which he thanked the people of the city for coming together at a critical time in all our lives.

There was an epic torchlight parade which began at Moor Park and concluded in the city centre. It featured a mix of vehicles and walking participants with proud Prestonians showing their honourable support.

The evening was dedicated to the key workers who worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic. It was an ideal opportunity to thank the work these brave ones fought courageously for.

You can  view the mayor’s  honest appraisal below:-
The ten minute firework display followed the parade and was a fantastic tribute to everyone involved in the past 18 months and made the evening so special to the public. Commissioned as part of the city’s Welcome Back Fund action plan, the fireworks  were funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Department for Communities and Local Government.
