Artist Providing Appointment only to view Exhibition in Preston

Oct, 19 2020

Learning to adapt is something we’ve all had to do over the past seven months. If you work in the public sector  you’ll especially  feel the loss of something you’ve worked all your life for. But if you are an artist there are ways and methods of adapting so you can reach an appreciative audience of your work.

Preston born artist and painting teacher Norman Long has invited professional and amateur artists to join him in his studio to paint from the model since 2014.

However, recent restrictions has meant Norman couldn’t operate as an artist the way he was previously accustomed to.

He currently has 63 oil paintings exhibited at The Artistry House at Winckley Square until Friday 30th October. Those wishing to see his work will have to attend by appointment only due to COVID-19.

Norman relates what the pandemic has meant to his work and the opportunity to view his material,

“I had planned to paint loads of local scenes on site, and I love the buzz of painting in cafes. Covid put paid to that, but at least I could do still life and self-portraits while stuck indoors. We had to change the dates a few times and cancel a big painting event, but I’m delighted the show is up and people can still come and see it in person.”

The exhibition features pre-lockdown paintings of the following places:-
  • Avenham Park
  • Lytham Hall
  • Bistrot Pierre
Plus members of the local community.

Norman’s tutorial classes based at Oyston Mill were also suspended but he intends to begin an online teaching format.

An exhibition of an award-winning artist’s work is running by appointment at a Winckley Square venue.
