Key Features Of The CCG - 6. Events - 28/04/20

Apr, 28 2020

~Welcome to the penultimate ‘Key Features of the CCG’. For the second to last time I’ll be reminding members about some of the excellent areas you can navigate your way around on the CCG website. This week I’m looking at ‘Events’.

To begin here is a simple definition :- An Online Event is a media presentation distributed over the Internet using streaming media technology to distribute a single content source to many simultaneous listeners/viewers. An online event may either be distributed live or on demand as designated by the event.

A number of people are solely in charge of writing about the events. This could take the form of Nigel Farnworth or yours truly Alex Ashworth. Additional members are authorized to write about events and they may write a simple statement about something forthcoming in the local area.

Some of the  articles you’ll read will focus on events of a health related theme, cultural interest or a philanthropic endeavour.

Here are some example headlines of past and present events the CCG has had the privilege to promote and be a part of:-

  • Black History Month -18/10/2019
  • Preston's 1st Diversity And Inclusion Film Festival At UCLan
  • 04/02/2019
  • The Role Of Social Workers In - 19/10/2018
  • Celebrating Women - Rising To The Challenge - 25/02/2020
  • World Down’s Syndrome Day 2020-27/02/2020
  • Fundraiser Gig -04/02/2020

There are a number of exciting events the CCG hopes will make a fantastic return in 2021. These include the following top three:-

  1. One Billion Rising
  2. STAR (Stand Together Against Racism)
  3. Preston Health Mela

It’s unfortunate that this years STAR event had to be cancelled as did the annual Health Mela in light of the corona virus pandemic. The CCG is committed to delivering community engaging events for the local people to raise awareness and to help bring people together.

Unity from a distance has played a vital role during this lockdown period. If we can keep this same momentum for large scale events when work resumes play then everybody involved will feel the joy and the happiness about uniting in some of the best events the CCG has and will continue to organise.
