Preston Dance School Engages With Public In An Interactive Way

~Who says you can’t have an audience from home? Thanks to modern technology Fever Dance Company are streaming online dance classes for everyone.

The Corona virus has hit many thriving organisations very hard. It’s been a financial blow for the large percentage of the country. The Preston dance school is no exception.

After nearly 20 years as a popular attraction for young people it has  had to temporarily close it’s doors. Yet social media has opened a new door and the resilient north west are continuing to adapt to this interactive way of connecting.

The classes are streamed on Facebook live four nights a week, Monday to Thursday and on Saturday Mornings with different teachers covering different dance styles.

The classes include the following :-

  • Cheerleading, Street and Acro for children weekdays at 5pm
  • Salsa, Latin and Ballroom for adults weekdays at 7pm
  • Tiny tots class for under-fives on Saturday mornings at 11am.

Dance teacher Stephen Holland has these brief yet appropriate words in response to the media based programme,

“For us it just made complete sense. We have built a community here and we want to look after all our customers in whatever small way we can. Whilst we can’t offer the same social benefits that our studio can, we can keep connected in other ways.”

Please note:- all the classes are suitable for beginners, completely free and available to all, with short routines that can be danced alone or with a partner.

If you are unable to experience the live stream the dance school are making recordings of the classes which will be available via Instagram and You Tube.

In addition those taking part will be able to join in with the following:-

  • TikTok challenges with teachers
  •  Costume design competitions with  dress maker
  •  Lots of other creative activities

Dance teacher Jillian Donalson expressed these words of joy in light of the recent transition:-

“The response has been overwhelming with people joining in from all over the country! We’ve had so many photos and videos of children taking part, parents dancing with their children and adults trying out a new dance style, it really has been amazing.”

The school currently has a timetable of classes for the next four weeks planned and hopes to re-open it’s studio as soon as it is safe to do so following the Government’s advice.

More information and the schedule for the coming weeks classes can be found on Fever Dance Company’s Facebook page.

Fever Dance Company has swapped studios for sitting rooms, offering free online dance classes for everyone.
