~Most people attend their local church for a service on a Sunday morning the quietly go home once the service is complete. Meeting in the evening could be unique especially as it includes experiencing a local landmark.

For a whole month St. Walburge’s Church in Preston will be open for the general public each Saturday from 11th January - 8th February 2020. Interested ones are encouraged to meet at the church for a 7.30pm start and an 8.30pm conclusion.

It’s an ideal opportunity to explore the 309 foot (94 metres) high spire.
Figures show that is the third tallest spire in the United Kingdom, and is the tallest on a parish church.

Visitors will have the chance to see the magnificent view which takes into the breadth and depth of the city of Preston as well as local countryside and as far out as Blackpool.

The tower contains a single bell of 31 cwt (1.5 tonnes) cast by Mears and Stainbank of Whitechapel which is the heaviest swinging bell in Lancashire.

Once the climb is complete the general public will be able to enjoy some light refreshments which include mince pies and mulled wine. It’s an £8.50 fee and tickets are available to book online via www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/spire-at-night-tickets-
