~‘To be or not to be, that is the question’. Literary scholars will know this is the classic line from William Shakespeare’s play - Hamlet. But there are many more questions the interested public would like to know about the famous writer…

These include the following :-

  • What kinds of stories, characters and ideas are there in his plays?
  • How can things written over four centuries ago still have relevance to the modern world?
  • How does performing a play change what was written on the page?
  •  Is Shakespeare uniquely English or does he have world-wide significance?
  •  Is he as good as they say?!

‘Shakespeare for Beginners’ is taking place tomorrow afternoon (Monday 4th November 2019) between the hours of 1.30pm - 3.30pm at Garstang Library on Windsor Road, Garstang, Preston, Lancashire.

The course will answer the above questions by introducing  you to the work of William Shakespeare and some of the issues raised by his plays and the position they hold in the modern world.

Please note- this event is free to all adults over 19, but booking is required. You can book your place by logging onto the following website address :-https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/shakespeare-for-beginners-garstang-lancslearning-tickets.
