Community Celebration Day
There is a packed programme of entertainment, with the diverse communities of Preston dancing, singing and making music for this celebration event with modern and traditional music from Britain and around the world performed throughout the day.

Why not try something new?

Some of the performers will be asking you to join in with Samba Drumming or Salsa Dancing.

If not relax and watch displays of Irish Dancing, Indian Folk and Bollywood or listen to a variety of vocalists including Mantra Chanting, Cabaret and Folk singing. Other music includes Pop, steel band and drumming.

There will also be a selection of stalls offering activities and games including;
arts and crafts

henna painting
hair braiding
tombola
fair trade goods
face painting
raffles
plants
food

Guild time capsule

Come and tell Preston FM about your memories of the 2012 Guild, add something to the Guild Thought Tree or bring a memento (a poem, a painting or a photo) of the 2012 Guild to be included in the Guild Time Capsule.

Quiz Clothing

To support Preston’s community celebration day, Quiz have set the challenge for two local charities to trade ‘out of date stock’ that featured on the Quiz Clothing Website.

Cash4 Kids and Girlguiding will be taking part, to see who can earn the most money from the Quiz stock provided. All the proceeds will be kept by the charities and at the end of the day an extra £500 will be donated to the charity that manages to raise the most.

Morning session
Worldwise Samba Drummers - feel the power of the Samba rhythm!
Dance Syndrome – dance along to well known songs
International Society for Krishna Consciousness – musical Mantra Chanting with a selection of instruments including a Medieval Hurdy-Gurdy
Preston Rosettes Morris Dancers – watch a modern Morris Dance display
Quwwat Education Centre – children singing Islamic songs in Arabic, English and Urdu
Shamrock Dancers – tap along to traditional Irish Dance

1.00pm - Time Capsule Ceremony with the Mayor of Preston.

Afternoon Session
Red Ribbon Cabaret – singing and dancing with a distinct sound and moves
Preston Malayalee Intercultural Association – Bollywood and traditional Indian Folk Dancing
Eva Fox – the versatile Miss Fox sings Jazz, Blues, Soul and Cabaret
Steel Band – the distinct sounds of Caribbean drums
Robert Ionut Pumnea – modern and traditional Romanian Folk Music
ABLAZE – art and performance from a local Youth Group
Salsa Northwest – listen to the different sounds and rhythms of African Drums, then try it!
Salsa Northwest – watch the experts then have a go at the Latin rhythms of Salsa
