Brilliant City Symposium - UCLAN - 2pm - 8pm - 31/10/19

Oct, 29 2019

~When you compare the city of Preston to cities abroad such as in China, Preston is minimal in terms of it’s size and appearance. The closest we get is in Manchester where specially designed areas labelled ‘china town’ provide residents with a feel and glow of the grandeur of China.

An exciting event is scheduled to take place this Thursday which will explore contemporary Chinese hyper-urbanisation and the depictions of contemporary Chinese cities.

‘Brilliant City Symposium- Viewpoints from the Chinese Mega City’ will be presented on 31st October from 2pm - 8pm at UCLAN’S  Media Factory, The Creative Innovation Zone, Room  ME414.

Delivered by The Critical Lens Research Group this thrilling symposium will feature   presentations by the exhibiting photographers alongside a range of guest speakers and noted academics including Dr Yan Wang Preston and Sarah Fisher.

Dr Yan Wang Preston was awarded her PhD in Photography from the University of Plymouth in 2018, she now lectures at the University of Huddersfield. Sarah Fisher is the Executive Director of the Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool and serves on the board of Axisweb in Leeds.
