Preston's International Film Festival - 5pm - 7.30pm - 14/10/19

Oct, 8 2019

~In 2009 UCLAN was continuing to enrol international students on top courses to become part of the diverse culture in Preston. But due to this demand students needed a central hub to learn and appreciate other countries. Hence, The WorldWise Learning Centre at the School of Language and Global Studies was established.

It’s main objective is to promote awareness of world languages and cultures. It does so by offering consistent support, training and professional development opportunities for the University’s students, members of staff, the public and the business community of the North West of England.

Now in 2019 it’s celebrating ten years in the academic calendar. To crown such a landmark it will be featured in this years ‘International Film Festival - Worldwise 10th Anniversary’.

The special event will take place at UCLAN’S Mitchell and Kenyon Cinema in the Foster Building on Monday 14th October between the hours of 5pm - 7.30pm.

The evening will kick off in fine style with a talk on the politics of reconciliation by Darius Rahimi, the Deputy Head of the Political Department for the German Embassy, as well as talks from other esteemed guests.

A networking opportunity will arise where you can connect with like - minded individuals and share common ground on foreign culture. French and German nibbles and wine will prelude the feature film ‘Frantz’ a film set in post-World War 1 with themes that are highly relevant in today’s divided world.

Please note :- the event is free to attend but booking is encouraged. You can do so by logging onto the following website address :-
