~Autumn. That lovely time of the year where you can go for walks in local parks with the sun beating down on you and the joy of strolling through fallen leaves. But the British weather doesn’t always bring sunny days. Autumn can also be a season of wet, windy weather. This being the case you’ll need some enclosure from the howling wind and the opportunity to enjoy some cultural delights.
Harris Music, Preston is host to some excellent midday classical concerts in St. George’s Church on Lune Street. It’s been known to stage some locally talented musicians performing to an appreciative audience and this Wednesday is no different.
The 9th October showcases a Victoria String Quartet. The musicians comprise of the following four performers :-
- Benedict Holland, Violin
- Catherine Yates, Violin
- Susie Mészáros, Viola
- Jennifer Langridge, Cello
Musically skilled they are all accomplished teachers at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Students learning from them will experience a master class session here at home in the UK and on an international level.
They’ll be playing these numbers in full :-
- Haydn Quartet in Bb op 76 no.4 "Sunrise"
- Tchaikovsky Quartet no. 1 in D, op 11
The four musicians will take to the front of the church at 1pm for an hour duration and will conclude at 2pm. Tickets are £12 and are available to buy as you enter the building.
Please note :- refreshments will also be available during your time at the church.
Stay inside from the wind and rain and enjoy this forthcoming classical hour :-
