Preston Arts Festival - In And Around Winckley Square - 30/9/19 - 21/10/19

Aug, 30 2019

~On the surface the areas in and around Preston could appear dull. A series of reasonably attractive parks and a relatively familiar row of shops and cafes could present Preston in a unappreciative light.

But, there is much more to Preston than first impressions. An impending Preston Arts Festival is about to take over the town and will reveal the cultural diversity of this progressive city.

Organisers have approached The Friends of Winckley Square to ask them if they’d like to be a part of the October event. Walks and talks will be embedded in the programme as well as an engaging exhibition entitled ‘The Women of Winckley Square’. This will be on at St Wilfrid’s Church in Chapel Street for the duration of the festival.

This  exhibition will reveal  some fascinating facts about the women who lived, worked or were associated with the Square. Friends of the Winckley Square have been credited for helping in putting the exhibition together.

It will open on Monday 30th September and can be viewed by the public weekdays from 1pm -6pm, Saturdays 1pm to 5pm, and Sundays 1pm to 4pm until it closes on Monday 21 October. Winckley Square walks and exhibitions will also feature in Preston’s Heritage Open Days.
