Conga Roots Course - UCLAN - 6.30pm -8.30pm - 13/9/19- 25/10/19

Aug, 6 2019

~Twenty years ago popular drumming tracks came courtesy of Blink 182, Smash Mouth and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. It was also during this time that local drummer Ryan Dixon was honing his craft.

By 2009 he began working as a community musician and may have been inspired by 90’s drummers when he first started out.

Now in 2019, Ryan is teaching a conga roots course which is coming to UCLAN from Friday 13th September 6.30pm -8.30pm. It will be based in the Media Factory Room 226.

Here is a complete overview about what the course entails :-

  • The conga roots course is a progressive six-week course which will cover hand drumming techniques and ensemble skills (working with others).
  • The course will also include some cultural background as to how these rhythms came to be.
  • The focus will be mainly on Afro-Brazilian rhythms, although this is not exclusive.
  • Due to the progressive nature of this course, it is recommended to attend all or as many of the sessions as you can.

If you’d like to attend please be note that its is £36 for the full course and £30 for the full course and bring your own conga. You can contact the organiser to pre-book your place by visiting www.uclan.ac.uk/newsevents, log on to the events page and scroll down till you see this one, here you will find a link for further information.

Please be aware that children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the duration of the session.
