~Have you ever attempted to learn something but was to afraid to have a go? Think about clay pottery, your peers seem to have mastered it but your ‘pot’  looks twisted and broken. What about glass blowing. It’s quite an art forming the glass into a realistic mould. Surely candle making is your calling, what could possibly go wrong?!

Make Do Drink is delighted to bring you it’s  second workshop collaboration. A Hand-Poured Soy Candle Workshop hosted in partnership with Old Man & Magpie Candle Co

The workshop will take place on Tuesday 6th August between the hours of 6.30pm - 8.30pm.

The Old Man & Magpie Candle Co make hand poured candles using only 100% pure natural soy wax, phthalate free essential and fragrance oils, cotton wicks and beautiful apothecary style recyclable amber glass jars.

As people begin to fill the room they will be presented with glass of bubbly  followed by a specialised talk to guide you through these essential things:-

  • Wick and container considerations
  • Picking the perfect scent
  • How to hand pour your own soy candles to take away

The duration of the session is two hours during which time there will be ample opportunity to ask the expert questions about the craft and produce something the smells aromatic. In addition, there will be a selection of unique fragrance oils to choose from when pouring your own candles, meaning you will be taking home a bespoke smell you can't usually buy from Old Man & Magpie.

All of the above takes place in an underground bar in Preston city centre. ‘Winedown’ is located on Lancaster Road near The Stanley Arms. The bar creates an atmosphere like no other with a wide variety of drinks on offer. They also have a desirable deli counter to help fuel your creative
candle making.

  • 1 x 180ml candle
  • 1 x 60ml candle
  • Delicious Nibbles from the amazing Winedown Deli Counter

The workshop sessions are the perfect way to spend an evening with friends, family, or even focusing on some well-deserved 'me' time. All workshop groups will be small, and the casual settings make them the perfect place to meet new people and have some fun.
