~When we’re being taught something about a specific subject we want to get to the real root of the matter. An in-depth understanding can help us progress in that field of learning and gain valuable skills which will enable us to develop our strong work ethics.

Artlab Contemporary Print Studios has a long term vision to promote contemporary print through an ethos of exploration and cross-disciplinary research and professional excellence. It does this by introducing guest artists to speak about their work and to influence and inspire others to carry out a similar activity.

On Wednesday May 8th from 5pm -6pm UCLAN will be hosting a ‘Masters’ Artist Talk by Agata Derda. It will take place at the Victoria Building in Lecture Theatre 1.

‘The Masters’ is a programme of events to be hosted and facilitated by Artlab Contemporary Print Studios (ACPS) at UCLAN.

Agata Derda is a Polish-Canadian visual artist and printmaker. Currently, she lives and works exclusively on her art practice in Toronto. Her artistic interest in the dark side of human condition relates to her experiences of growing up in a country damaged by a difficult history, especially World War II and Communism.

Agata regularly exhibits nationally and internationally with recent prizes including The special award of the Rector of the Marie Curie-Skiodowska University Lublin at the 2018 International Print Triennial Krakow.

Guest artist’s selection is based on a demonstration of research led practice linking tradition and innovation within their specialised area of contemporary printmaking practice.

This is a free event and no booking is required.
