~Have you ever been on a social night out with friends and thought to yourself ‘this is a waste of time, why am I here?’ As the evening progresses you find yourself feeling more agitated as the pub develops into the nightclub and you wake up the following day regretting everything that occurred the previous night. You then ask yourself, ‘Why am I putting myself though this, I mean it’s a Monday night, can’t I be doing something better with my life?!’
The good news is, you can! If you prefer literature to lemonade and writing to being wired than you may be interested in the following information :-
On the last Monday of every month a creative writing group meets at The Continental’s snug room from 7.30pm sharp with an approximate 9.30pm finish.
‘Scribble’ is a friendly, welcoming Preston-based amateur writers' group that’s always open to new faces - and voices! Here is top five things they consider in the group :-
- Poems
- Short stories
- Flash fiction
- Daft limerick
- Fantastic new kids’ stories
The range of people vary from poets - novelists and playwrights - short story writers. The joy in sharing your work comes with the knowledge that everyone’s work will get an enthusiastic reception.
Abilities are mixed and include complete beginners to experienced professionals. As a member of ‘Scribble’ you will receive excellent useful and constructive feedback in a relaxed and respectful setting, scRibblers help each other and any budding authors out there.
The sessions last up to one - two hours with a continual theme throughout. This general them enables those to create a thought with an extra exercise thrown in for good measure.
scRibble is also a place to share contacts and knowledge of local arts and writing events, there are sufficient plans to arrange events too.
