~There are many things you could be doing as each month comes to an end.  If you’re athletic you may consider a couple of hours at the gym. If you’re culturally inclined a trip to Manchester to see an art house film would be ideal.

On a continued sophisticated level there is an event which takes place the last Wednesday of each month. It is the ‘Damson Poets’.

The fun kicks off this Wednesday 27th February at The New Continental from  7.30pm and concludes at 9.30pm. Admission is free you just need to be  tuned in to the performance poets.

Damson Poets evenings host a range of events, these include the following top three :-

• Headline acts
• Themed evenings
• The occasional book launch

This month the Damson Poets audience and participants are treated to two guest readers. These include :-Adele Robinson and Cynthia Kitchen. Following the guest readers, members of the public have their chance to participate.

This can cater for up to twelve  performances each lasting five minutes. All are encouraged to come along and share your work in a positive and safe environment.

The New Continental serves the quintessential beers and ales. It has an excellent menu and provides Preston’s people with some fantastic local talent in the  form of musical and theatrical performances. It also screens archive and recent films on cinema nights.

Situated on the banks of the Ribble and away from the city centre chaos, close to the picturesque Avenham Park, The Continental is an oasis of fine food, drinks and atmosphere. It is based at South Meadow Lane, Preston, an unforgettable experience.
