Classic Album Night - The Continental- 8pm- 11pm - 21/2/19

Feb, 17 2019

~ Drug abuse, poverty, and the Vietnam War. These are themes that are explored in great depth on the late Marvin Gaye’s 1971 concept album
‘What’s Going on’.  The songs are told from the perspective of a Vietnam veteran returning to his home country to witness hatred, suffering, and injustice.

48 years later and the world scene hasn’t changed much since Marvin documented the atrocity on his classic album. Thankfully, though, there is a safe place to find shelter from the world scene chaos that is presented to us  each time we watch the news.

For the sixth time, The Continental pub on South Meadow Lane Preston is hosting their monthly classic album night in the cosy enclosure of the snug room.

Previous classic album nights include the following top five records :-

  • David Bowie - Hunky Dory
  • Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
  • Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure
  • Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
  • Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

Now this Thursday 21st February 2019 you can experience Marvin Gaye’s monumental album ‘What’s Going on’.  Entrance is free with the album being played at 8pm and concluding at 11pm.

Staff at Richer Sounds are providing The Continental with excellent equipment to make your vinyl listening pleasure an absolute treat. You are also encouraged to bring your own personal records to add to the music mix.

Experience a classic album in a calm and peaceful environment :-
