~All the great engineers had to start somewhere. These include, Brunel, Stephenson, Telford and their contemporaries. They would have had to start relatively young and learn their craft whilst studying to have a career as an engineer.

The same is much true in our day. UCLAN have recently built a new engineering block for students considering this course in the autumn but prior to being a student, it must start a lot earlier.

Children have fun with building blocks but now UCLAN are encouraging youngsters to harbour an interest in engineering and they’re starting this with free Future Engineers clubs at the new community space at the Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library.

Young ones aged between 7-11 years old will have the opportunity to get involved in fun and interactive Engineering Activities. Topics will cover light, bubbles, water, paper and many more!

Children accompanied by an adult can participate on one or all of the Saturday sessions below. Each stand-alone session will cover a different topic:-

  • Saturday 16 February: 1pm - 2pm
  • Saturday 23 February: 1pm - 2pm
  • Saturday 2 March: 1pm - 2pm
  • Saturday 9 March: 1pm - 2pm

All are  welcome but places are limited so booking is recommended. It is only necessary to book places for the children that will be actively involved in the session.

Register your interest by logging on to this site and follow the link to this news item:-https://www.uclan.ac.uk/news/events.php

Encourage your young one to have a yearning for building and design :-
