Classical Concert At The Minster - Church Street- Preston - 1pm-2pm- 13/2/19

Feb, 10 2019

~The harp and the saxophone are two very different instruments. The harp has a lush, softening sound whereas the saxophone has a more louder yet appealing interpretation.

It would be a unique experience to have the two instruments in the same venue played by  accomplished musicians. The long running classical concert series ‘Harris Music Preston’ caters for such an event and this coming week you can soak up the sounds that makes the Harris Music series so popular.

‘Polaris Duo, Saxophones and Harp’ is being performed at The Minster, Church Street, Preston this Wednesday 13th February 2019. The musicians begin their set at 1pm and conclude at 2pm. Admission is £12 on the door and refreshments will be available upon arrival.

The concert comes courtesy of Elinor Nicholson on harp and Gillian Blair on saxophone. The 60 minute programme features classical pieces by the following musicians :-

  • Rob Buckland - Song Without Words
  • C.P.E. Bach - Sonata in G minor
  • Gustav Bumcke - Notturno
  • Ida Gotkovsky - Eolienne
  • Gregory Wanamaker - Meditation & Dance (UK Premiere)
  • Andy Scott - Sonata for Saxophone and Harp

Despite having contrasting sounds the two instruments work beautifully together which works in conjunction with having an idyllic setting to play these wonderful pieces of music - The Minster on Church Street, Preston.
