Jan, 27 2019
~On 6th December 1958 a boy named Nicholas Wulstan Park was born in Brookfield Park, Preston, Lancashire. He grew up having a strong interest in drawing cartoons and it wasn’t long before he made his first home movie.
He studied Communication Arts at Sheffield City Polytechnic (now Sheffield Hallam University) and then went to the National Film and Television School, where he started making the first Wallace and Gromit film, A Grand Day Out.
Over the next twenty years he successfully picked up a string of awards from his notable works such as Creature Comforts (1989), The Wrong Trousers (1993), A Close Shave (1995) and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005).
Yes. Nick Park is regarded as a National Treasure and now in 2019 there is an exciting opportunity for youngsters to learn how to create the same magic that Nick has tirelessly worked on throughout his career.
On Sunday 3rd February between the hour of 11.30am - 12.30pm your child can experience ‘Aardman Animation Model Making’. It will take place at The Harris Museum and Art Gallery and tickets are £10 per person. You can book online by visiting Eventbrite - A Grand Day Out Aardman Studios Model Making Workshops.
An expert model maker from Aardman Animations will be visiting the Harris to teach children aged 7+ the art of clay modelling. It will be a fun, hands on activity.
You will learn how you make your very own model of Gromit - inventor and Wallace’s best friend. The great news? :- you can take it home to keep!
Please note :- All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop. Adults do not need to buy a ticket unless they also wish to make a model.
Animators of the future will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn tricks of the trade from the Aardman studio and discover how the animation process evolves in the making of their award-winning films.
In addition, to coincide with The Museum of the Moon events, the 1989 short film ‘A Grand Day Out’ will be screened throughout the day in the exhibition gallery.
